WFG Overshirt (Inlay Ami)
Vintage styled overshirt.
Hand dyed
Inlay ami fabric involves a weaving technique used to create decorative patterns or add texture to fabric. It involves knitting one color of yarn into another while maintaining a smooth and even surface on one side of the fabric (inside)
This is a very comfortable fabric that would be a good alternative to a flannel shirt. I would say the weight of this fabric is similar to a heavy flannel.
The base fabric has an indigo warp (outside) and a white weft (inside). We then overdye the fabric in a natural dye to create a unique color that will fade beautifully with repeated wears and washes.
The sample shirt in the photo has a sumi overdye. We can use different dyes to create different color blends. For example; indigo/indigo, indigo/purple, indigo/amber, indigo/red-pink…….etc.
You can mention what color combination you want in the checkout. If you don’t specify then we will make the indigo/sumi shirt seen in the photos.
For this shirt we are using handmade in Japan buffalo horn buttons. The faded black color matches well with the aesthetic of the fabric. These buttons are limited.
