Sashiko Overshirt
So many details in this overshirt I don’t know where to begin…
The patchwork fabric is a vintage, natural indigo, Japanese selvedge cotton. We were told the fabric is 80 years old from our vintage fabric supplier.
The vintage fabric is then stitched onto a brushed cotton indigo fabric that is very soft and comfortable.
The sashiko threads that are used are all naturally dyed with different colors and combinations.
Some of the thread colors match the fabric so in the photos it might appear that not all of the shirt is stitched, but it is..
Some of the natural dyes used on the sashiko thread include: Indigo, onion, pomegranate, pagoda tree, persimmon, acorn, walnut, and feijoa
The wood buttons are also dyed in a fresh leaf indigo vat we made during the summer.
The cut is based in a vintage work shirt style.
This size would be like a 42 or 44..
I typically wear a 40 and this shirt fits me large (as seen in the photos)
The shirt itself is heavy and would be ideal in cooler temperatures.
